Two Spiritual Laws

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

There are Natural Laws and there are Spiritual Laws.

One Law can set us free from another law.

Two Eternal Spiritual Laws

1st Law: The Law of Sin and Death

The soul that sins will die. Eze. 18:4

The wages of sin is death. Rom. 6:23

…it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Heb. 9:27

2nd Law: The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2

There is only one way to overcome death.

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

Jesus took the penalty of death and died in our place.

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom. 5:6-8

…knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom. 6:6-11

How do we receive this salvation?

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

• Repent and turn to God

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

• Be Baptized

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom. 6:3-4

• Receive the Holy Spirit

Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:17

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20
