The Power of Words

God’s Word created the universe and upholds all things.

…we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Heb. 11:3

…has in these last days spoken to us by His Son… through whom also He made the worlds; upholding all things by the word of His power… Heb. 3:2-3

Effective Prayer is creating God’s Kingdom on Earth.

So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…” Luke 11:2

All things in your life are sustained by your words.

God’s Word brought salvation to the world.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Jn. 1:14

Your words activate your salvation.

…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Rom. 10:9-10

Our words determine the direction of our lives.

Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member…  James 3:3-5

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.  Proverbs 10:19

Your Words produce life or death in you.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth… Proverbs 12:14

Our words determine the quality of our lives.

Our tongue can bless or curse.

With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. James 3:9-10

Our words will be judged.

“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. Matthew 12:36-37

Parallel Truths:

Our words change our hearts.
Our hearts change our words.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45

Give your heart to God and Guard your words.

My son, give me your heart… Proverbs 23:26

…Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle. Ps. 39:1

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. James 3:2
