“Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: 3 If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” Eph. 6:2-3
The unexpected key to a long and happy life is honour.
Honour is one trait alone that can transform a family.
Definition of Honour:
To treat someone with great respect and dignity because we perceive them as having great worth.
The hardest place to show honour is at home.
Jesus was not shown honour in His hometown.
“Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. 4 But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. Mark 6:3-5
And Haman answered the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, 8 let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal crest placed on its head. 9 Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’ ” Esther 6:7-9
• Put the King’s robe on the person.
See them with Christ’s righteousness.
Showing honour does not depend upon the person’s behaviour.
• Seat them on the King’s horse with the royal crest.
View them as if they were Christ.
• Lead them before the people and declare honour.
Publicly declare your honour for them.
