The Missing Peace 1

Can We Even Find the Missing Peace?

“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:14

Isaiah 26: Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, (all whose thoughts are fixed on you) because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

Shalom: wholeness, completeness, fullness of peace.

With God in the picture, you can have perfect peace.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV

True peace comes when we shift our focus to the right things.

What’s your mind fixed on?

The battle for peace always begins in our minds.

…Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise… Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

We don’t have perfect peace because of:

1. Lies
2. Negativity or Doubt
3. Reality

You will keep in perfect peace… all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3

Fixed (samak): to lean on completely, to fully rest oneself.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast… Isaiah 26:3 NIV

Change your talk from, “If only I…” to “Only God can.”

Peace isn’t found in the absence of problems. True peace is found in the presence of God.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
