For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light. Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people).  Ephesians 5:11,15  AMPC

S – Settle your purpose and direction.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Ps.119:105, NLT

  • What are my gifts and talents?
What am I good at? What do other people say I am good at?
  • What am I passionate about?
What makes me excited and inspires me?
  • What can I do that will bring the greatest benefit to God’s Kingdom?
What is important to God? What is of eternal significance?
  • Of all my opportunities, what is the one that only I can do?

T – Take a step forward every day.

How did I advance on the path today?

  • What is immediately before me… where I can help?

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might… Eccl. 9:1

  • Be whole-heartedly engaged – be diligent.

Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. Ps. 37:5

A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. Prov. 16:9

  • Be sure your motivation is to serve.

Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. Matthew 20:26

E – Engage the support of others.

Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14

  • Don’t be a lone ranger.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Join a group of people who are on the same path.

P – Possess a Positive Mindset.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8

  • You are not a victim.

Nothing you have done, nothing others have done nor any other circumstance has the power to…
° steal your joy or peace
° determine your mood or demeanor
° derail your purpose
° keep you from fulfilling God’s will for your life

  • Realize that small acts accumulate.

A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. Proverbs 18:16

Make every day a gift to the Lord.

  • You are rewarded for faithfulness, not your talents.

Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2
