God has a Work to do on Earth
And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:49
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. John 4:34
I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. John 9:4
The Purpose of Jesus’s Ministry was Threefold
I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have
given Me to do. Jn. 17:4
Glory – great praise and honor given after the expression of
superlative attributes and achievements
Glorify – to cause to be treated as being more splendid and
excellent than what would otherwise be considered
I can do nothing alone. I judge only the way I am told. And my judgment is right, because I am not trying to please myself. I want only to please the one who sent me. John 5:30 ERV
What could the church accomplish if no one cared who got the credit?
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Mt.6:13
To glorify God is to give Him the ownership, control and credit for every in your life!
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Mt. 1:21
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mt. 20:28
do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 2 Tim. 4:5
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 Jn.3:8
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal. 5:19-21
The Work We Do is Empowered by His Indwelling Presence
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
