Loneliness to Love

Loneliness is not caused by solitude.
Loneliness is not caused by being physically alone.
Loneliness is an emotion of the heart – the heart is lonely. It is lacking a heart-to-heart connection.
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Genesis 2:18

Adam was surrounded by so many creatures that God created – wondrous and marvelous - but Adam could not connect on a mutual heart level.

God took a rib from Adam (closest to his heart) and created Eve.

Loneliness is not caused by being alone, but a feeling that no one understands you and carries your heart.

Adam and Eve communed with God in the cool of the day.

We are susceptible to loneliness because we were created as vessels – we are meant to carry something in our hearts.

The source of all loneliness is separation from God.

Adam’s sin separated him from God; his heart was drawn away.
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you… Isaiah 59:2

The void that God leaves in our life causes us to feel lonely.
There is a God-shaped hole in every heart.

We try to fill it with Satan’s counterfeits:
Pleasure – but progresses to addiction
Affirmation – progresses to self-centredness
Acquiring things – progresses to greediness

God’s Love overcame the separation.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jn. 3:16

Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23

...to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19

The disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

We love because He first loved us.
We stand confident and secure in God’s love.
We can now love others.
