Fear and Faith

Posted on 17 Nov 2024, Speaker: Peter Tolman

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Job 3:25 For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me.

What is the definition of Faith and the definition of Fear?

Faith = belief that something which has not happened, will become a reality in the immediate or distant future

Fear = belief that something which has not happened, will become a reality in the immediate or distant future

Fear is founded on the things of this world.

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Faith is Founded on Knowing God and His Word.

2 Tim 1:12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

How Do I Make My Faith Stronger Than My Fear?

I start every day with God.

Psalm 5:3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.

See the good that God is working in us, even in difficult times.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Speak words of life and not of death.

Prov 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Remember that God is faithful.

2 Thess. 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Remember this world is not our home.

2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.
