Why don’t we do it God’s Way?

1. We act on our natural lusts.

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. Gen. 3:6

For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:16

Flee also youthful lusts… 2 Tim. 2:22

2. We act on false ideas and misinformation.

Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. Gen. 3:4-5

3. We are influenced by our peers.

…She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Gen. 3:6

4. We follow our natural inclination and human thinking.

There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Prov. 14:12 (NLT)

Doing it our way doesn’t get the results we expected.

What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. Romans 6:21

5. When we do choose to follow God’s way, we only commit halfway.

…they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart. Jeremiah 24:7

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Gal. 6:9

How do you know which way is God’s way?

1. Word of God
2. Godly Counsel
3. Prayer
4. Follow your inner sense

Choose to do it God’s way, every day in every way.

And if it seems evil for you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:14-15
