The Basics of a Christian Family and a Christian Marriage

God is love and He loves all of us, no matter what kind of parents we were born to.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).

Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13).

Marriage is the foundation, or starting point, to the meaning of a family.

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

“Education is useless without the Bible. The Bible was America’s basic textbook in all fields. God’s Word, contained in the Bible, has furnished all necessary rules to direct our conduct.”

Marriage is honorable and the marriage bed undefiled (Hebrews 13).

“This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” (Genesis 2:24)

“The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.” (Proverbs 4:18)

“…for Jonathan loved David.” (1 Samuel 18:1)

“How I weep for you, my brother Jonathan! Oh, how much I loved you! And your love for me was deep, deeper than the love of women!” (2 Samuel 1:26)

“And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.” (Jude 1:22-23)

God wants us to have and live a satisfying life.

Strongholds start in our minds, by what we think about and choose to believe.

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10:10)

“We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

“Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)

“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)

“Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.” (1 Peter 3:7)

As Christians, we should pray with our children and in front of our children.

There are many ways to be generous with our kids using our time and resources.

“Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing.” (Psalm 16:5)

“Your faith is far more precious than mere gold.” (1 Peter 1:17)

“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.” (1 Thessalonians 4:11)

The Bible is our source of life.

The best family is the one God wants you to have.

“Stolen bread tastes sweet, but it turns to gravel in the mouth.” (Proverbs 20:17)
